Girl Scout Gold Award Scholarship

Joined in a mission to create and educate dedicated community partners, Alvernia University and Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania hereby establish a Memorandum of Understanding.

Through this memorandum, we articulate and codify the ways this partnership can advance our mutual goal of enhancing access to high quality mission-based education at the high school and postsecondary levels. The components of our partnership include, but are not limited to:

1. Alvernia University will guarantee admission and a four-year renewable merit scholarship to members of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania who enroll at Alvernia University and have a minimum 3.00 cumulative high school GPA. Currently, Alvernia University is test optional. Should Alvernia require a standardized test in the future, they will establish the minimum admission criteria needed for this MOU. Students who meet the above criteria will receive, at minimum, a $19,000 merit scholarship and up to a maximum of $27,000 merit scholarship. Students looking to major in the Physician Associate (PA), or 3+3 Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) programs, must have a minimum 3.5 cumulative high school GPA to gain admission into those programs. Students looking to major in Engineering programs must have a minimum 3.3 high school GPA to gain admission into those programs. The student must remain academically eligible for the scholarship to renew annually. The merit scholarship can only be received for four years total, except for the 5-year Master of Science in Occupational Therapy and Athletic Training programs where students may receive the merit scholarship for 5 years. The Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania and Alvernia University merit scholarship is not transferable to other institutions.

2. Any Girl Scout of Eastern Pennsylvania that resides in Berks County, Pennsylvania who earns the Girl Scout Gold Award will receive an additional $1,000 award. This award can only be received for four years total, except for the 5-year Master of Science in Occupational Therapy and Athletic Training programs. The Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania and Alvernia University Award is not transferable to other institutions.
